BEGINNERS & FOUNDATION COURSE

All beginners will start on the Foundation Course. This is a course of structured music lessons giving students good introductory knowledge of a range of musical styles. The course allows students to learn at their own pace, developing technique, reading ability, theory, and musicianship.

ADVANCED PLAYERS

Once the basics have been mastered students will be given the opportunity to develop their skills in any or all musical styles to a more advanced level. Here we prepare musicians for ensemble work, playing live, and for examinations (should you wish to do so).

Many students study for grade exams. Depending on your instrument and musical interests this is done through studying the Associated Board, Trinity College, and Rockschool specifications. Success in examinations is both motivating and a good way to monitor progress and encourage development.

In many cases the pieces a student studies for grade exams go on to be the pieces submitted for their GCSE and A-Level performances.

BRASS

We offer lessons on all brass instruments. Trumpet, cornet and  trombone are popular choices, with some younger learners starting on the cornet before migrating to the trumpet later on. We also teach French horn and low brass (tenor, baritone, euphonium, tuba).

GUITARS AND BASS

We teach acoustic and electric guitar as well as bass guitar. Suitable for players of all ages and levels of experience, lessons in guitar and bass prove popular choices with students at Key Stage 3 and with those studying GCSE and A-Level courses.

PIANO

Like guitar, piano lessons are also popular with students of all ages and experiences. Many students want to study popular styles as well as preparing for examinations.
